The annual holiday meal is scheduled for Nov. 25 at The Venue at Coosa Landing.
Last year s celebration it would’ve been the 22nd was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If someone were to have caught COVID and died at the event, we would have been on the hook,” said Gadsden Public Library Director Craig Scott, a member of the CommUnity Thanksgiving planning committee. “But this year we have grown up, organized and incorporated, and we are looking to bring this event back and better than ever.”
The celebration was first held in 1998 at New Liberty Tabernacle of Praise church in East Gadsden, and was started by its pastor, the Rev. Willie Simmons.

Two large, full loropetalum shrubs that are about 20 feet tall grow in our backyard. Right now, they are in full bloom, with fringy pink flowers and purple foliage literally covering all the branches.
As I have said many times before, our entire yard is huge. We have 33 acres and about 3 of the acres are maintained as yard. These two shrubs are planted closely together and give the appearance of one humongous shrub.
Our two shrubs are loropetalum chinense. Once established, they are extremely drought tolerant. They grow on the slope in our back yard, standing alone, and function as specimen plants.
