Police investigate after man s body is found in East El Paso

Police are investigating the death of a man after his body was found in East El Paso. The body was found Friday morning at Skipper and Red Sails drives near Pebble Hills Boulevard, El Paso Police Department officials said. The department’s Crimes Against Persons unit is investigating the case. No foul play is suspected, officials said.

Men, one wearing Spider-Man mask, steal cash from Forti s restaurant

Two men burglarized a long-standing Central El Paso restaurant.  The El Paso Police Department needs help to identify the suspects involved in the Crime Stoppers of El Paso s Crime of the Week. On the early morning of Thursday, April 15, 2021, two men broke into Forti’s Mexican Elder located at 321 Chelsea St. The men made their way towards two cash registers damaging both machines and taking the cash drawer portion of the register.  According to police, the suspects fled the scene with both cash drawers that contained a small undisclosed amount of money. The amount stolen was not given by police officials.

Police: El Paso driver hits man on bus bench in Montwood rollover

View Comments A driver ran onto a curb and struck a man sitting on a bus bench before slamming into an electric pole Wednesday in East El Paso, police said. The single-vehicle rollover knocked down the electric pole, closing a portion of Montwood Drive in the Vista Del Sol area for hours. Police officials said the crash occurred at 10:36 a.m. Wednesday when Aaron Corey Ruiz, 26, was driving a Kia Soul westbound on Montwood near a bend on the road by Lee Elder Drive.  Ruiz lost control at the curve, veered right, jumped the curb and hit Guillermo Guzman, 64, who was sitting on a bus bench, police said. The Kia kept going, crashing into an electric pole, rolling and ending up on its side.

Former Fort Bliss soldier sentenced in LSD-fueled attack on sons

A former Fort Bliss soldier has been sentenced to eight years in prison in an LSD-fueled attack on his two young sons in 2019.  Zakary Frampton, 27, had taken the powerful hallucinogen, also known as acid, before going on a rampage at his home in far East Side, El Paso police said. Frampton was sentenced by Judge Patrick Garcia after pleading guilty to two counts of injury to a child March 17 in 384th District Court, according to court records. He was originally scheduled to go on trial last week. The drug-fueled assault occurred on Nov. 23, 2019, after Frampton took LSD with two other people at his home in the 4900 block of Marcella Santillana Street, police said.

City of El Paso opens vaccine pop-ups to get more shots in arms

KVIA Vaccine pop-up location at the farmer s market in downtown El Paso. EL PASO, Texas El Paso health officials opened two vaccine pop-up clinics Saturday to help vaccinate people that have yet to get their first dose. The two sites were located at the downtown farmer s market and the the Beast Urban Park in far East El Paso and were open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Health officials at the downtown site were hoping to vaccinate 200 people by the end of the day. People had a choice of either the one-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine or the Moderna vaccine.
