On Tuesday, July 20, shortly after 3:30 a.m., members from the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the North East Region Sault Ste. Marie Canine Unit and members from the East Algoma Detachment of the OPP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Old Highway 17 within the Territory of Mississauga First Nation. A search of the residence led to the seizure of one loaded 9-mm handgun and 17 long guns, suspected: cocaine, green and purple fentanyl, crack cocaine, Percocet pills, $4,400 in Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia. The value of drugs seized is believed to be approximately over $10,500.

An elderly driver who nearly struck two people walking a dog in Elliot Lake is charged with impaired operation.
East Algoma OPP said members responded shortly after 8:40 p.m. Thursday to a complaint regarding a small pickup that was straying from its lane.

The truck was “all over the road and travelling at high rates of speed” on Taylor Boulevard, Eston Drive North and Pearson Drive, the OPP said, and “almost struck two pedestrians walking a dog.”
