Police say they are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning in Springfield.
Jasmine Bailey, spokeswoman for the Springfield Police Department, said officers were dispatched to 1400 block of East Atlantic Street at about 2 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a man in the street who had been shot in the chest. That man, later identified as 42-year-old Christopher L. Kuder, was transported to the hospital where he died, according to Bailey.
Bailey said a suspect was seen running from the scene after the shooting, and police were able to locate someone who matched that description in the front yard of a home on North Pickwick Avenue.
