Huskies Ready for NCAA Columbus Regionals

May 9, 2021 SEATTLE – The No. 14 seed Washington Husky women s golf team will begin play at the 2021 NCAA Regionals on Monday which is being hosted by the Ohio State University at the par-72, 6,358-yard Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University. The three-day, 54-hole event will take place May 10-12 with the top six teams in the 18-team field advance to the NCAA Finals that will be played May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Additionally, the top three individuals on non-advancing teams will move on the national championships. THE FIELD: In the Columbus Region, No. 1 Duke earned the top seed followed by Arizona State, Virginia, Kent State, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Clemson, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Illinois, New Mexico, Nebraska, Washington, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, Evansville and Youngstown State.

Lobos, McDonald finish strong, place fifth at Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational

Myah McDonald Thanks to a strong final round of the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational, New Mexico gained three spots on the leaderboard, but that still left the Lobos in fifth place Monday behind winner Denver. UNM freshman Myah McDonald turned in a consistent effort to finish tied for fifth, with a 1-under for the tournament, making her best performance as a Lobo. McDonald’s 215 was seven strokes behind leader Carly Strole of Grand Canyon. ...................... “It starts off at the tee. All of my drives were going right where I wanted them to,” McDonald said. “I was giving myself the best chance to make a good approach shot, and my putting was very good. I was able to make a lot of par saves, which was really crucial going into the end on the last few holes.”

Freshman Myah McDonald led the University of New Mexico women’s golf team Sunday for the first time in her career with a career-best score of 1-under through the first two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. UNM finished eight-over par on the day and is tied for eighth (8-over 584) heading in the final round on Monday. McDonald is tied for 10th overall after shooting an even 72 in round one and a 1-under 71 in round two (143). She finished the day tied for eighth overall in pars with 25 while posting six birdies. UNM sophomore Lauren Lehigh is 2 over, tied for 23rd overall. Lehigh shot 73 in both rounds for a total of 146.
