St. Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold says the initiative to provide high-speed broadband internet service to under-serviced parts of the municipality will be completed by the end of this year.
In January 2020, the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) initiative – a non-profit regional broadband project created by the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus to subsidize the creation of high-speed broadband networks – announced it had awarded $4.9 million to Cogeco Connextions service over 80 kilometres of under serviced roads in St. Clair to provide faster and more reliable service to a number of communities, including Port Lambton, Sombra, Wilkesport, Mooretown and Brigden.

Lambton County’s property tax levy will climb 1.75 per cent this year following county council’s approval Wednesday of its 2021 budget.
Councillors approved the $240.2-million spending plan during an online meeting Wednesday, where they also agreed to fund half the cost of building an air ambulance landing pad at Bluewater Health in Sarnia from county reserves, but put off making decisions until next year‘s budget on the rest of the hospital’s request for $10 million in capital funding over the next decade.
