FRANKFORT, Ind. U.S. Marshals arrested Kiera Williams, who is charged with driving drunk early Dec. 31 and causing the crash that killed Lafayette firefighter Troy Trent.
U.S. Marshals arrested Williams, 24, in a Chicago suburb, Clinton County Sheriff s Office stated in a news release posted on its Facebook page. She was a fugitive on charges of driving while intoxicated causing death and driving while her license was suspended.
Charges were filed Jan. 26, and a warrant for Williams arrest was issued Jan. 27, according to online court records.
About 6 a.m. Dec. 31, Williams was westbound on Indiana 26 near Clinton County Road 1000 West when she tried to pass another vehicle. Her car slammed head-on into Trent s eastbound vehicle.

CLINTON COUNTY Local law enforcement agencies are doing their part to actively meet and exceed standards from a state effort.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Wilmington Police Department are among the many law enforcement agencies in the state to take part in the 2021 Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement Certification Report.
Col. Brian Prickett of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office described the Collaborative as “an effort to keep agencies more professional and more accountable” in certain areas.
Semi-Truck Driver Chokes On Fruit & Crashes on I-96
A semi-truck driver made it out luckily, and probably thankfully, after choking on some fruit he was eating, which then caused him to crash his rig on West Bound I-96 near M-100. The accident happened just before 7 a.m. on Friday, April 30th. Lansing Post troopers on scene at I-96 W/B near M-100 for a semi truck crash that occurred at 6:57 am. Driver of the semi truck advised he was eating a piece of fruit and began choking, then ran off the roadway into the ditch. No injuries occurred. From the MSP First District Twitter Page.

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. A woman wanted for DWI in a crash New Year s Eve that killed a Lafayette firefighter is behind bars.
Kiera Williams, 24, was taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Service in a Chicago suburb. The Clinton County Prosecutor s Office had a warrant out for Williams on charges of operating while intoxicated causing death and driving while suspended.
The crash happened on December 31, 2020 just after 6 a.m. on State Road 26 near County Road 1000 West.
Williams was driving westbound on State Road 26 when she tried to pass another car. While trying to pass, she pulled into the path of 41-year-old Trent.
