FRANKFORT, Ind. U.S. Marshals arrested Kiera Williams, who is charged with driving drunk early Dec. 31 and causing the crash that killed Lafayette firefighter Troy Trent.
U.S. Marshals arrested Williams, 24, in a Chicago suburb, Clinton County Sheriff s Office stated in a news release posted on its Facebook page. She was a fugitive on charges of driving while intoxicated causing death and driving while her license was suspended.
Charges were filed Jan. 26, and a warrant for Williams arrest was issued Jan. 27, according to online court records.
About 6 a.m. Dec. 31, Williams was westbound on Indiana 26 near Clinton County Road 1000 West when she tried to pass another vehicle. Her car slammed head-on into Trent s eastbound vehicle.

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. A woman wanted for DWI in a crash New Year s Eve that killed a Lafayette firefighter is behind bars.
Kiera Williams, 24, was taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Service in a Chicago suburb. The Clinton County Prosecutor s Office had a warrant out for Williams on charges of operating while intoxicated causing death and driving while suspended.
The crash happened on December 31, 2020 just after 6 a.m. on State Road 26 near County Road 1000 West.
Williams was driving westbound on State Road 26 when she tried to pass another car. While trying to pass, she pulled into the path of 41-year-old Trent.

The Lafayette Fire Department held a funeral procession for Troy Trent, a firefighter who was killed in a car crash on New Year s Eve.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette Fire Department held a funeral procession for Troy Trent today, January 9.
Trent was a firefighter for the LFD. He was killed returning from work on New Year s Eve in a head-on car crash.
A funeral was held for Trent today at the River City Church in Lafayette. Just after four p.m. a procession across town began. Residents lined the streets to pay respect to the late firefighter.

EDNA MILLS, Ind. (WISH) A 41-year-old Clinton County man died Thursday in a head-on crash of his truck and a sport utility vehicle on State Road 26, authorities said.
Clinton County Central Dispatch in Frankfort received a call shortly after 6:10 a.m. Thursday about the crash on State Road 26 near County Road 1000 West. That’s west of the community of Edna Mills in the northwestern portion of the county.
Troy Trent, of Bringhurst, died in the crash. He was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger east on State Road 26 when a westbound 2004 Saturn Vue driven by Kiera Williams, 23, of Lafayette, hit his truck in the eastbound lane. The Vue was attempted to pass another vehicle not involved in the crash.
