(KAIT) - Voters in Mississippi County will choose in August whether or not to keep or do away with the half-cent sales tax. Popular Searches The special election will take place on August 10 from 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m, with early voting beginning from August 3 until August 9 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The sales tax passed in 2003 and again in 2011, with the upcoming tax scheduled to sunset in 2023. (KAIT) - A 130-acre location in Mississippi County has completed certification for a âSelect Siteâ program as officials there hope the site is selected for future economic growth. Officials with Entergy Arkansas and Mississippi County Economic Development announced Thursday that the certification has been done for the Osceola Driver 130 industrial site. The site is near I-55, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad and the Mississippi River. Officials said the program helps create sites for high-tech, manufacturing and distribution projects around the state.
