Now, a course tackling loneliness and depression in the East End is back for another year – although this time it’s ready for life in a pandemic. The Gateway to Health and Opportunity project helps people on unemployment benefits score support for their physical and mental health as a first step back into the working world. Delivered by staff at the Celtic FC Foundation, the club’s charity wing, the free 10-week course has helped scores of locals, operating continuously since October 2015.

Brewery to raise funds for food bank as part of 15th anniversary celebrations A GLASGOW brewery will share the love as it celebrates its 15th anniversary since opening.  WEST Brewery in the Glasgow Green will be donating parts of the proceeds from a special Birthday Box to charity. The box will feature an authentic Bavarian beerhall dining experience , explained founder Petra Wetzel.  Each box purchased will see £5 donated to the Glasgow North East Food Bank.  Ms Wetzel added: 1 in 4 children in Glasgow go to bed hungry and 1 in 5 households are living below the poverty line. We therefore wanted to make sure that our Birthday Box celebrations also provide food for many in our  neighbourhood.

First Glasgow donate 100 free journey tokens to struggling families this Christmas FIRST Glasgow have donated 100 free journey tokens to the North East Foodbank Hub to support families in need this Christmas. The donation will help some of the city s hardest-hit families to allow them to have access vital supplies offered by the food bank over the festive period. A lot of families who require foodbank services over Christmas often struggle to afford the transport costs, so First Glasgow say they have stepped in the bridge the gap. The bus operator will initially be providing 100 free journeys as well as pledging further support to the foodbank when it is required.
