Clarksville NowFrank Tate
Update, 6:10 p.m.: The nature of the investigation that led to the firing remains under wraps, including, apparently, to Frank Tate himself.
Clarksville Now reached out to Tate for a reaction to his termination. His wife, Holly, responded by text.
“We were not given any information regarding the reasons behind the decision to terminate,” she said. “Frank has the right to defend himself and our family, and we can only conclude this is potentially a political matter.
“We have consulted legal counsel. I completely support and stand by behind Frank and (am) proud of what he has accomplished for the Clarksville community.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, Clarksville-Montgomery County is without an executive director for Industrial Development.
In a special-called meeting, Frank Tate was fired by the board of directors for the Industrial Development Board s over-arching umbrella agency, the Economic Development Council.
No reason was given publicly for Tate s termination. It s not clear what happens next with what has historically been the top position in local industrial recruitment.
EDC Board Chairperson Suzanne Langford said it is too soon to speculate on that. It was a decision of the (EDC) board and I am sure the board will craft a plan to go forward, County Mayor Jim Durrett said after the meeting.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Pisgah Elementary School on Hazelwood Road experienced two brief lockouts Friday morning, as the school took precautions from two unrelated incidents near the school.
This is the second day in a row that a Clarksville-Montgomery County elementary school has experienced a lockout.
Thursday morning, Glenellen Elementary had a lockout that lasted into the afternoon due to a nearby standoff with a barricaded subject on Applemill Court. That situation was resolved around 6:40 p.m.
Parents were alerted to the first lockout at Pisgah at 9:32 a.m., and it was lifted less than 10 minutes later.
According to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sandra Brandon, law enforcement received reports of a suspicious person walking on Trenton Road just under 2 miles from the school.
