READERS have praised the selflessness of a Barrow foster carer who was hailed as an example to all by Cumbria County Council. Mail readers are unanimous in their support of Terri Forbes, a veteran foster care, who was praised for taking on both a mother and her child to prevent them from being split up. Ms Forbes has fostered children through the council for more than 20 years and will continue to specialise in ‘parent and child’ fostering. Judith Aitken said: You are amazing Terri Forbes, very well deserved. A lot of children have had a better start to their lives because of you, be proud.
Chelsea G. remembers an awkward conversation with a boss.
âI was sat down by a boss once, I was told that âThe girls donât think you like them because you never smile,â â said Chelsea, who requested anonymity for this story. âOh my God, why do I have to have this big huge smile on my face all the time?âÂ
This was Chelseaâs first job out of college, already a year or two in the company. She was recently promoted and involved in social media and graphic design. She said she hears the comment often from men, but it was surprising that the comment was made by other women. Â
