READERS have praised the selflessness of a Barrow foster carer who was hailed as an example to all by Cumbria County Council. Mail readers are unanimous in their support of Terri Forbes, a veteran foster care, who was praised for taking on both a mother and her child to prevent them from being split up. Ms Forbes has fostered children through the council for more than 20 years and will continue to specialise in ‘parent and child’ fostering. Judith Aitken said: You are amazing Terri Forbes, very well deserved. A lot of children have had a better start to their lives because of you, be proud.

A foster carer has been praised for taking in a mother as well as her baby to prevent them from being split up.
Terri Forbes, from Barrow-in Furness, has been hailed by Cumbria County Council for her pioneering work.
Claire Lloyd, the council s fostering service manager, said she hoped Ms Forbes would inspire others.
Ms Forbes, who has fostered children through the council for more than 20 years, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service she would carry on offering parent and child fostering.

Cumbria County Councilâs fostering service has launched a campaign to recruit foster carers who can welcome a vulnerable parent and their baby into their home.
By caring for a parent and their child, the aim is that you will use skills you have acquired as a parent or carer yourself, to model positive parenting and give the family the best possible chances of staying together and flourishing.
Foster carer Terri Forbes, of Barrow, has fostered with the council for more than 20 years and specialises in âparent and childâ fostering.
Terri said: âI started fostering because I love spending time with children and, as a single mum, saw fostering as a way of helping children and at the same time being able to stay at home with my own young children.
