Charity champion is dedicating a special award in memory of her much-loved nan

A CHARITY champion is set to pay an moving tribute to her much-loved nan by dedicating a special award in her memory. Leah Canning, who launched her Inspirational Inverclyde awards last year, says the Greenock pensioner, who she was named after, will always be her greatest influence. Seventy-two-year-old Leah died last June only two weeks after she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Her sudden death has had a huge impact on her close-knit east end family and neighbourhood. Now Leah wants her name to live on through recognising those in the community who help others. The 19-year-old, who stays in McLeod Street, said: I d lived with my nan most of my life.
