Piety Market in Exile returns March 13 at outdoor space near Healing Center
New Orleans’ most eclectic marketplace for one-of-a-kind finds returns on Saturday, March 13, at a new outdoor space. Piety Market in Exile will feature local art, craft, vintage, and flea-market merchandise at the New Orleans Healing Center’s big corner lot space located at St. Claude Avenue and Spain Street, adjacent to KIPP School. Booths are open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Piety Market In Exile had been an indoor market at the New Orleans Healing Center until New Orleans went on lockdown for Covid-19. Vendor spaces have since moved outside when the market resumed in February with a Carnival-themed event.

The space at 1618 Oretha Castle Haley surely never looked like this before. The Big Sexy Neon studio is filled floor-to-ceiling with fantastic new neon works and vintage signs waiting to be restored. There are fleurs-de-lis, there are corkscrews, there are quirky signs, there are gorgeous works of art all on dazzling display.
Nearly a year ago to the day, Nate Sheaffer signed a lease on the space that formerly housed the Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Art Center, which is now on St. Claude Avenue in Arabi.

This location is closer in proximity to Burnaby’s civic precinct on the south side of Highway 1 and the Glencarin Trailhead to the north, and it also carries a lower construction cost due to the raised height of the existing ground at each proposed embankment footprint.
As well, this “Option 1” location has reduced impacts to the environment, private property, and BC Hydro and provincial government infrastructure.

The municipal government has budgeted up to $20.5 million for the overpass on this eight-lane stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway.
