Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera has announced reforms his administration will take to create better conditions and rights for workers in his country. Presiding over a commemoration for Internationals Workers Day Saturday at his State House in Blantyre, Chakwera noted that a decent work environment and workers’ rights are compromised in Malawi.
Chakwera started the event by leading a solidarity walk within the State House premises with various representatives of workers’ unions in Malawi.

Judiciary spokesperson Gladys Gondwe said the judge is in a stable condition.
Gondwe said Potani was rushed to Mlambe Hospital in Lunzu before being referred to the major referral Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
She said she did not have finer details of the accident but their transport manager had rushed to the scene.

Judiciary spokesperson, Gladys Gondwe has confirmed the development in an interview but declined to take further comments.
Justice Potani was first rushed to Mlambe Hospital before being referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
Judge Potani was one of the Judges in who presided over the high profile presidential elections case which nullified the 2019 presidential elections.

Judiciary says it has hired 58 new third grade magistrates to speed the delivery of justice in the country’s courts across the country.

Registrar of High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal, Gladys Gondwe, has confirmed the development.
Centre for Human Rights Education, Advice and Assistance (Chreaa) is optimistic that the development will reduce workload and address the increased number suspects on remand and ensure speedy justice delivery.
Some quarters of society say the weeks of justice are slow in the country because of lack of magistrates.

High Court in Blantyre will next week Thursday deliver its ruling on whether business mogul Thomson Mpinganjira has a case to answer in his alleged bribery case.
A notice signed by the Registrar of the High Court and Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal, Gladys Gondwe, states that the ruling will be delivered in the morning by Judge Dorothy De Gabrielle.
Mpinganjira, who was arrested in January 2020, is accused of attempting to bribe five judges of the High Court sitting as a Constitutional Court who were presiding over the historic presidential election nullification case.
