The Cave Springs City Council held an emergency meeting Tuesday night to get the ball rolling on repairs on Mount Hebron Road.Mayor Randy Noblett said last week s winter weather weakened the road, spawning several large potholes that reduced parts of the road to one lane of traffic. It is legitimately an emergency and a traffic hazard. It forces people out into the other lane which makes it a one-lane road, so that being said, it does qualify for what we are trying to do tonight, he said. One part of the northbound lane of Mount Hebron Road is maintained by the city of Cave Springs, the rest of the road is maintained by the city of Rogers. The council voted to either partner with the city of Rogers or an outside company to repair the road as soon as possible.Tuesday s emergency meeting means the city can forego its usual bid process, which can take up to a month and can get started on repair work this week. I would say the goal is to have it started this week, Noblett said.
