CLAWSON On a 22-degree Saturday, Feb. 20, four Clawson first responders plunged into the 40-degree waters of the Clinton River across from Yates Cider Mill in Rochester Hills to raise funds for Special Olympics Michigan.
Sgt. Scott Vierk, of the Clawson Police Department, said the Polar Plunge raised $3,173 for the nonprofit organization. While this was the first time the city’s first responders participated in the challenge, Vierk said they will most likely do it again next year.

CLAWSON A multi-jurisdictional law enforcement team of detectives, as well as the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, is currently investigating the city of Clawson’s first homicide since 2004.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, Clawson police responded to an address in the 200 block of Nakota Road, which is south of 14 Mile Road and west of South Washington Avenue. According to police, 37-year-old Steven Alexander Rogers, of Clawson, entered the home and struck a female occupant with a beer bottle, causing facial injuries that first responders treated at the scene.
Upon arrival, Clawson police officers observed Rogers walking out of the residence and placed him under arrest for the assault, according to a police press release.
