SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA After a news briefing on Monday afternoon in which Santa Clara County officials promoted a COVID vaccination event for teenagers this week at Levi s Stadium, County Supervisor Cindy Chavez pointed to a group of high school students who had just spoken to convince their peers to get vaccinated. Interview them, because no one wants to hear from us, Chavez said to the media while laughing. Talk to them!

Teenagers and young adults statewide and in many parts of the Bay Area are getting coronavirus shots at significantly lower rates than older residents, prompting health officials to step up efforts to persuade young people to be vaccinated as soon as possible.
Statewide, just 32% of those aged 16 and 17 have gotten at least one shot, compared with 60% in the overall eligible population and 70% or more among people over 50, state data shows.

Gilroy High School since 2018 has been inducted into a hall of fame.
Daniel Cormier,
who was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, was inducted this week into the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association. In high school at Northside High, Cormier won 3 Louisiana state championships in wrestling. He was twice voted the most outstanding wrestler of the state tournament.
