A tropical cyclone watch has been issued for Far North Queensland.
The cyclone watch is between Arukun and Karumba and also Mornington Island for a developing tropical low in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
The Bureau of Meteorology s Dean Narramore said a tropical low in the Gulf of Carpentaria is forecast to develop into a Tropical Cyclone late tomorrow and into Thursday. The tropical low is expected to become slow-moving off the western Cape York Peninsula coast and develop into a tropical cyclone later on Wednesday, Mr Narramore said.

A warning zone is in place for Mornington Island, and Karumba to Aurukun, including Kowanyama and Pormpuraaw, and nearby inland areas. A watch zone is in place for Aurukun to Weipa. Tropical cyclone Imogen is moving further inland over the eastern Gulf Country. A transition to a tropical low is expected soon, but heavy rainfall and localised damaging winds remain possible.

Intensity: Category 1, sustained winds near the centre of 75 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 100 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 30 kilometres of 17.6 degrees South 141.7 degrees East, estimated to be 65 kilometres east of Normanton and 90 kilometres northwest of Croydon.
Movement: east southeast at 21 kilometres per hour.
