JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A Jonesboro woman can thank a couple of quick-thinking neighbors for saving her from a house fire.
Around 5 p.m., a single-story home in the 200-block of Gilbert Street went up in flames. Smoke could be seen for miles. Jonesboro police confirmed fire crews and police officers have responded to a house fire Monday evening. (Source: KAIT)
Mike Lovell was outside when he saw the flames.
âWe were sitting in the backyard over there, and we heard rushing and there was a trailer, a small camper trailer, that looked like it was on fire,â he said.
Staging a new season
Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City is streaming the Jazz at Lincoln Center lecture series, “United We Swing: Jazz and American History.” The series begins March 24 with Louis Armstrong and the Explosion of Swing, and continues with a different topic each Wednesday through April 28, tracing the history of jazz and the ways it intertwines with democracy. Just as spring brings a mix of sunshine and showers, area arts presenters are bringing a mix of in-person and online events to usher in the season. Here are some of the upcoming ways they’re continuing to connect with viewers at home and afar.
Job Fairs Saturday in Orange County
So many businesses have closed and so many Hudson Valley residents have lost their jobs over the past several months. This global pandemic has not been kind to anyone or anything. Unemployment has gone sky high and it seems that good jobs are few and far between. Which is why it’s so nice to be able to tell you about several available jobs right here in the Hudson Valley.
If you’re looking for work, you should make a plan to head to Orange County for the YMCA Job Fairs this Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10AM - 2PM, being held conveniently in two different locations. The events will be held at the South Orange Family YMCA on Gilbert Street Ext. in Monroe and also at the Center For Youth Programs at 6 Liberty Street in Middletown. YMCA department supervisors will be in attendance to meet you and discuss the many opportunities available to you at the YMCA.
