Ludhiana: Residents of Guru Nanak Colony opposite Guru Nanak Engineering College on Gill Road in ward number 36 have been waiting for the construction of the main road in the locality for the past so many years. But to their disappointment it could not be constructed, allegedly due to the prevalent political system .
Councillor of the ward rued that since he was from Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress leaders did not bother to construct the road. Interestingly, half portion of the same road falls under the area of a sarpanch and that portion has been constructed.
A resident of the area, Usha Malhotra, complained, “It is really risky to drive on this road as now most parts of the road has been washed away completely and deep potholes are also there on some other portions. Moreover, in winter when it is difficult to see anything due to foggy conditions, it can prove fatal for the commuters.” She said for a long time they had been waiting for the construction of the road, but nobody
LUDHIANA: Developers who have failed to deposit the external development charges (EDC) with the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada) even after getting the licence have been declared defaulters. Their list has been put up on the Glada website and the public is warned against buying plots in these colonies as their registries will not be allowed.
Before constructing a colony, the developers take licence from the department and then deposit the EDC within a given time period. But many did not deposit the charges and now when Glada has taken action, those who live in these colonies will not be able to sell their plots or houses.

Harkeerat Singh, a student of Class VIII of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Road added another feather in his cap by excelling in a national level event linked with computer technology. He participated in national-level WIZTECH 2020- an annual inter school techno-Edu festival organised by DCM Presidency School recently and succeeded in scoring second position in WIZ6.iDESIGN.
As many as 16 students from 25 schools participated in different competitions of this tech-edu festival. Sharing his experience Harkeerat said,”It was an offline competition. I made a logo of an educational Tech Company in the MS Word 2019. I was very confident of winning the event.”
