Killeen woman wants her dogs back, Killeen Animal Shelter says they can t be released | Local News

A woman that fosters animals in Killeen is trying to get six dogs back that are currently at the Killeen Animal Shelter. Anca Neagu said the six dogs were in the possession of a woman that was working for her and that woman has been charged with animal cruelty. After the charge, the dogs were taken in by the Killeen Animal Shelter and they are not being returned to Neagu. Danielle Singh, the assistant city manager for Killeen, said the dogs could not be discussed because they are currently the subject of a criminal investigation. Neagu said that she just wants to make sure the dogs are safe and that they are not going to be euthanized by the shelter.

Petco Love commits to invest $300,000 in Killeen Animal Shelter

Petco Love has announced Killeen Animal Services as the recipient of a $300,000 grant. The grant will provide $100,000 per year over the next three years for use in preventative and emergency care for animals at Killeen Animal Shelter. “Today Petco Love announces an investment in Killeen Animal Services and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

Local city offices closed Monday

Below is the current information for how the holiday will affect Killeen, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove. Killeen City of Killeen offices will be closed Monday. All offices will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday. Emergency services will operate without interruption, and garbage collection will remain on its regular schedule. The Family Recreation Center will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. City closures also include the Killeen Transfer Station and the Killeen Recycling Center, libraries and the Killeen Animal Shelter. Recycling trailers will remain open. Harker Heights Harker Heights city offices will be closed Monday. All offices will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday.
