Hundreds of people from different cultures walked around the Killeen Civic and Conference Center Saturday, enjoying music, food and offerings of various vendors highlighting the many cultures of Africa.
The fourth annual event was being held for the first time since 2019. The coronavirus pandemic halted the event in 2020, said founder Rodney Duckett.
âYou see the people are very eager to be here today,â Duckett said.
He added that he was pleased with the turnout of people to the convention center.
âItâs amazing, because we have a lot of connections,â Duckett said. â. Thatâs what this event is about â reconnecting.â
Taste of Africa event expected to bring hundreds to Killeen this Saturday

KILLEEN, Texas The traditions of African art, music and culture are making their way to Killeen. On Saturday, the Taste of Africa: Deep Diving Into Culture event is happening at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. As African people, we are a scattered people,” said Rodney Duckett, founder of Taste of Africa and IMPAC Outreach Youth Organization. “We are scattered because of a diaspora that brought us here to America and the world itself. Right now, we are in a state of awareness.”
