With just two weeks until the big day, some
Christmas specials are beginning to air from some of our favourite shows.
On Wednesday night,
Gogglebox Ireland had their Christmas Cracker special which had not only show regulars such as the Ryans, the Gruffertys and the Cabra girls but also brought us into the homes of some
Irish abroad.
Unable to make it home to celebrate with their families due to restrictions, we were introduced to a couple in Berlin, two friends based in London and a group of three in Auckland, New Zealand during the show.
‘To say we’re gutted is an understatement
The Gilded Balloon has permanently closed its year-round Edinburgh venue after three years.
Coronavirus has been blamed for the axing of its basement space beneath the Rose Theatre, as well as the financial hit from the cancellation of this year’s Fringe.
In a statement posted online, the venue said: Due to the ongoing restrictions in place in Scotland, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to permanently close Gilded Balloon Basement.
‘To say we’re gutted is an understatement, but we’ll cherish the laughs and memories we had in our wee Basement for years to come.’

Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre is laying on something for all the family this festive season – despite having to do things a little differently this year.
With Covid-19 restrictions still in place, the theatre has announced its Twelve Days of Christmas seasonal online programme which will incorporate filmed sketches and give members of the public the chance to ‘meet’ the cast members from the Alhambra’s 2021 production of Cinderella.
