Denice takes part in historic online Plygain event Plygain services where people come together to celebrate the festive season with traditional carols across Wales had to be different this year because of the pandemic. Instead of gathering, singers and groups were encouraged to submit a recording of their own performance and these were put together into two films, and shared as virtual Plygain across social media on December 20 and January 3. One of those taking part was Denice Jaunzens from Montgomery who said: “I had to consider carefully, as you cannot sing a song that someone else has already chosen. “It was a worthwhile challenge and it’s an honour to play a part in maintaining this tradition as a Welsh learner. I was very grateful to the organisers of the online format.

The Flower House
After spending an evening wandering around the town and judging the festive entries, sculptor Andrew Logan chose the winners as the Eaves & Lord bookshop and The Flower House.
Andrew is an artist, sculptor and jewellery designer based in Berriew.
He judged the competition based on two categories – business and residential/domestic properties.

Judith Barnes, from the Montgomery Christmas Festival Committee, said: “Andrew had a wide variety of designs and displays to choose from and the Christmas Festival Committee, on behalf of Andrew Logan, are pleased to announce that the Bookshop (Eaves & Lord) and The Flower House were the joint winning entries for the business properties.
What wonderful changes we ve seen over the last week in Drogheda! The lifting of Level 5 restrictions and the commencement of the festive season have brought some much needed hustle and bustle to the streets of our town.
Also brightening up the evenings have been some lovely new Christmas lights that have been installed along the banks of the River Boyne. Last Friday marked the opening of the Drogheda Christmas Online Festival with the release of two videos on The Drogheda Festival s Facebook page. Two videos will be released each day until Friday the 18th of December.

Jenny Bailey-Beech is giving some of her Okami Makes card making profits to charities and her most recent chosen charity was Water Aid. The nine year old has been able to donate £100 to the charity which works across the world to transform lives by improving access to clean water, toilets and hygiene. Jenny said: “I chose to support Water Aid because we twinned a tap in Montgomery Children’s Church to help people who live in poor countries and protect them from COVID-19. “I thought this was a really good practical thing to help, so I decided I’d like to raise more funds for them.”
