Letter to the Editor: Thank you from the Polk County  Salvation Army Submitted by Polk County Salvation Army Crookston Times     On behalf of the Polk County Salvation Army, we would like to again say thank you to our friends and supporters who have given donations and their time to the Salvation Army.          The Christmas Kettle Campaign is the county’s Salvation Army’s most vital fundraiser accounting for nearly 75% of its annual fund raising totals. It is vital because we depend on this support to fund year-round programs. Also, we would like to put out a SPECIAL THANKS to our local United Way in Crookston for their financial support assistance.

JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Salvation Army well surpassed its goal for its 2020 Christmas Kettle Campaign. According to Fort St. John Salvation Army Executive Director Cameron Eggie, despite the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the community was able to step up and raise $131,500, which is more than this year’s goal of $75,000 and even surpassed last year’s fundraising efforts. As part of the efforts, Eggie says the light show at St. Nicholas Drive managed to bring in $23,500 of the total amount.

Kristen Gray told the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Tuesday she was concerned the fundraiser would struggle to gain contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, with fewer people leaving their homes and even fewer carrying cash. It turned out she didn’t have to worry. The campaign raised $247,000, exceeding the Sally Ann’s target by $22,000. “People just stepped up in a huge way this year and we’re just over-the-moon thrilled with the results,” Gray said.

December 23, 2020 - 7:30 PM The Salvation Army nationwide may be reporting a significant loss this month for its largest fundraiser, but in the Thompson-Okanagan the churches are on track to meet or even exceed their fundraising goals. “Our Christmas campaign has gone very well here in Kelowna. We won’t have final numbers for a little while yet but we are on target to not only meet our goal but exceed it for this season,” said Darryl Burry, executive director with the city’s Salvation Army. The $650,000 budget for the kettle campaign was set before the pandemic began. “We were anticipating to struggle this year to meet the target,” he said, adding they were surprised to find that they will meet it.
