Prosecutors have charged a 25-year-old man with two felonies for assaulting a coffee stand worker early Monday morning.
Jesus Martinez-Escudero faces charges of first-degree burglary and second-degree assault after Eugene police say he assaulted a barista at a Dutch Bros. drive-thru near the University of Oregon campus.
According to a news release, the Eugene Police Department received a report around 5:30 a.m. Monday that a man had attacked a worker at the Dutch Bros. drive-thru at 2115 Franklin Blvd.
The man, now identified as Martinez-Escudero, was wearing a mask that concealed his nose and mouth. He tried to grab the worker and then hit her with a blunt object, EPD spokesperson Melinda McLaughlin said in the release.
“The assault of a young woman, working as a barista, by a stranger, near campus, is both alarming and shocking,” said Investigations Captain Shawn Adams.
