(Patch Graphics) WILMINGTON, MA Eleven candidates returned papers to run in the Wilmington town election by the Friday deadline, the town clerk said. Wilmington voters will have two contested School Committee races on the ballot, April 24. For two full School Committee terms, the two incumbents face a challenger, whereas four residents threw their hats in the ring for the final two years of Steve Bjork s seat. (Courtesy of Bonnie Roalsen) WOBURN, MA Woburn Public Library Director Bonnie Roalsen submitted her resignation Tuesday amid a battle for control of the library between the Board of Trustees and Mayor Scott Galvin. Roalsen s resignation was submitted to the trustees and is effective March 24, according to the letter she provided to Patch. Assistant Director Rebecca Meehan also submitted her resignation Tuesday, effective Friday. Both letters are available at the end of this article. Roalsen cited the political takeover of the library in her letter.

Burlington Positive Rate Falls To 5 08%, Barely High Risk

(Jenna Fisher/Patch) BURLINGTON, MA Burlington s positive coronavirus test rate fell to just above the high-risk threshold in the latest Massachusetts Department of Health city and town coronavirus report Thursday. The town s positive test rate over the last two weeks was just 5.08 percent, above the 5 percent threshold. While Burlington remains high risk, the latest positive test rate marks a drop of more than a percentage point from the 6.5 percent test rate reported last week. Andover Cases, Positive Test Rate Continue Rise

(Shutterstock) ANDOVER, MA Andover s coronavirus case count and positive test rate continued to rise over the last week, according to the statewide town-by-town data released Thursday. The town was again designated high risk for the virus. The town s two-week positive test rate rose to 7.1 percent, up from 6.9 percent last week. The town had 331 cases over the last two weeks, up from 286. According to town data, Andover has 206 active cases as of Thursday, bringing it to 1,770 cumulative cases. Of those, 103 residents have died.
