PANAMA CITY BEACH  After sorting through more than 30 applications, local officials have narrowed their search for a new chief of the Panama City Beach Police Department.  According to City Manager Drew Whitman, the top three candidates are Capt. Panama City Beach picks top 3 police chief candidates

He added that Jones joined the PCBPD in 1997, Boyer joined in 2002 and Talamantez joined in 2004.  The department now is headed by interim Police Chief Chad Lindsey, who was not interested in applying for the permanent post. Lindsey was appointed to the position by Whitman, who transitioned from police chief to city manager about a month ago.  Whitman said the top three applicants were selected on May 14. They then completed their first round of interviews for chief on May 17. Interviews were done by three panels and lasted about one hour each. Information from the city states that officials will confirm the new Beach police chief during a City Council meeting on Thursday.
