As the controversy over “Forever Marilyn” has raged for the past few months, I’ve heard from both supporters and opponents of the statue that The Desert Sun has been either too boosterish or not critical enough.
On our news pages, I think we’ve been thorough and fair. Our seven-member editorial board of whom a majority are not Desert Sun employees but community members weighed in on the return of Marilyn back in November. The board’s stance was that the return of the piece might be a net plus for the city, but the location on Museum Way and the way that was arrived at was less than ideal.
