Akron s ‘Know COVID program will get health information to communities of color

The GAR Foundation is bringing together local neighborhood groups and two of the area s hospital systems to get health and COVID-19 vaccination information to the members of Akron s communities of color.
The foundation on Tuesday, Jan. 26, announced it was putting up $200,000 to create the program, dubbed the Know COVID. The initiative is designed to connect area health care systems Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Summa Health with seven neighborhood groups to create pandemic- and vaccine-related information and distribute it to Akron s communities of color.

According to a press release sent to 3News, the GAR Foundation has announced a $200,000 donation to go to the creation of a brand-new Know COVID program, dedicated to bridging the divide between healthcare systems in Akron and neighbors who may be wary of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The foundation s goal is to bring accurate and competent information regarding the coronavirus and the COVID-19 vaccine to Black and Brown communities in the Northeast Ohio area, specifically in Akron.
