June 7 is a day that Victoria Gwynn will never forget.
“It was really just like a normal day for me. I went to work, got off work to go see a friend, just to spend time with that friend and not even 40 minutes of me being with that friend, it s like my whole world turned upside down,” Victoria said.

FRANKFORT, Ky. Krista Gwynn has been through a lot as a mother the past few years: her son Christian was murdered in 2019 and her daughter Victoria was injured in a shooting in June, both when they were just 19 years old.
“My 13-year-old wouldn’t go to the park,” she said. “I live so close to the park, I can see birds chirping. My daughter don’t want to go there. Why? This city is violent.”

Krista Gwynn, and her husband, Navada Gwynn, said Thursday they were so relieved when the LMPD detective called them Wednesday to inform them of the arrest. It just sent my soul spiraling out of control, Krista Gwynn told The Courier Journal, expressing appreciation for LMPD. It took 16 months to get an arrest, but they didn t stop.
