Illinois State Police say 18-year-old Fairfield resident Alexis Sargent was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Clay City Friday afternoon. She was then struck by an eastbound car, driven by 53-year-old Olney resident William Goluba. Goluba and a passenger in Sargent’s car, a 14-year-old male from Fairfield, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Sargent was also taken to an area hospital, where she passed away. The Greater Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce has announced Zurliene Enterprises as the 2021 Business of the Year.
