Searsmont Birthday boy Lee Woodward sped 60 Searsmont residents through the first 24 articles in the Annual Town Meeting Warrant May 15 in just 40 minutes. Explanations of the last three articles, all related to updates to the town’s Land Use Ordinance, took another 14 minutes, and chairs were stacked, loaded and gone in just 13 minutes more.
No one opposed a single article in the streamlined warrant. And, in the wake of the governor’s recent announcement, not a single person wore a mask – although chairs were placed 6 feet apart inside the Fire Station and just outside its wide-open doors.

Though hiring posed a hurdle, EAT Restaurant Partners is now slinging pizza and beer in Hanover County.
The restaurant group recently opened Pizza & Beer of Richmond (PBR) in The Shoppes at Rutland Place at 9325 Chamberlayne Road near the I-295 and Route 301 interchange in Atlee Station.
The new outpost is virtually identical in menu and concept to the original PBR located in the Fan, focusing on its namesake pizza and beer.

Chrissie Lozano works at the Bamboo Cafe in Richmond and heard about the change when she clocked in.
“I came into work today and the boss let me know that that announcement had taken place,” she said. “We’re talking about where to go next from there.”
The executive order says that patrons can sit at the bar as long as there’s six feet between parties. Some restaurants said they won’t enact bar seating because of their physical layout and needs. But at the Bamboo Cafe it will help fill out the restaurant under social distancing guidelines.
