June vaccination event will be ‘day in the park’ Written by Geoffrey Plant on June 1, 2021
Grant County commissioners heard a bevy of updates on a range of subjects during their monthly stand-alone work session Tuesday, including an effort to rehabilitate the Bataan Park Veterans Memorial, an upcoming COVID-19 vaccine event in Gough Park and an acronym-filled presentation about intertwined programs that strive to fill gaps in behavioral health services and reduce recidivism among those caught in the justice system.
During the last 60-day session of the Legislature, District 28 Sen. Siah Correa Hemphill and District 39 Rep. Luis Terrazas each directed $50,000 toward a study to determine what kinds of behavioral health and detox services are needed in Grant County.

Local governments are going to benefit significantly from the latest COVID relief package signed into law by President Joe Biden.
It became law last week- and after months of requests for federal help to balance local municipal budgets- it was approved.
Here’s how the funding breakdown looks for counties in the Finger Lakes: Ontario County will get the largest chunk, coming in at $21.29 million in aid, Wayne receiving $17.5 million, Seneca getting $6.6 million, and Yates receiving $4.83 million.
