Washington, April 27 (CNA) U.S. President Joe Biden formally nominated Heidi Shyu (徐若冰) as the undersecretary of defense for research and engineering Tuesday, making her the highest ranking Asian American official at the Pentagon if confirmed by the Senate.
The White House announced a list of key administration nominations on Tuesday, including several personnel changes at the Pentagon.
Shyu s nomination reflects the Biden administration s determination to pick more women and minorities to fill top positions, reports said.
If confirmed by the Senate, Shyu would become the highest ranking Asian American official at the Pentagon, working as its chief technology officer overseeing all defense research, engineering and technology development.
