MISSOURI - The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet Wednesday to advise the CDC director on recommending use of the Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15.Â
Some mid-Missouri health departments and centers are preparing clinics to serve this new eligible community, but other said they don t and won t have the supplies to distribute the Pfizer vaccine to this age group.Â
KOMU 8 News reached out to eight mid-Missouri county health departments to see if the vaccine will be available to this age group. Hospitals and independent vaccine distribution clinics are not included in this county analysis. Below are the health department and centers responses:Â

Mid-Missouri pharmacies and health departments on Tuesday were canceling appointments and clinics where they planned to give out Johnson & Johnson coronavirus shots.
State officials said last week that the state expected to receive 10,600 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine this week. From the beginning, my administration has supported the rigorous testing, trial, and stringent evaluation of all COVID-19 vaccines, Gov. Mike Parson said in a statement. We have paused state-allocated Johnson & Johnson vaccinations out of the same abundance of caution and await further guidance from the FDA.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
As mass vaccination clinics continue throughout Missouri, thousands of eligible people are still waiting to receive the vaccine. However, reports have surfaced that some clinics are ending up with extra doses and allowing anyone to get the shot.
In a news conference last week, Gov. Mike Parson said the goal is to make sure only those who are eligible to get the vaccine are getting the shot even if doses are left at the end.
