Share Updated: 7:21 PM EDT Jul 21, 2021 Lawson Gutzwiller The body of a 19-year-old man was found Wednesday in a lake in central Kentucky, a day after he was reported in distress.Kenneth Robertson of Hardin County was found dead near where he was last seen, Elizabethtown Police Department spokesman Chris Denham told news outlets. The body was found in Freeman Lake in about 20 feet of water, he said.Robertson, who had been kayaking, had left the kayak, and around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, he was reported in distress. Authorities in boats and dive teams searched until early Wednesday, then resumed around 11 a.m. He was found shortly before 3:30 p.m.Denham said a life jacket was found in the kayak.

Search underway for missing kayaker on Freeman Lake in Elizabethtown Shellie Sylvestri ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WAVE) - Crews are searching for a missing kayaker on Freeman Lake in Elizabethtown. Chris Denham with the Elizabethtown Police Department said around 3:45 p.m., people on the bank at Freeman Lake Park saw the kayaker “in distress.” Crews from several other area agencies are helping Etown PD officers in the search, including Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Hardin County EMS, Campbellsville Fire, Elizabethtown Fire, and Louisville Metro Police. Denham said the kayaker is a male but has not released his identity. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
