Firefighters Put Out Edmond Structure Fire

The fire was located near West Waterloo Road just west of North Broadway Avenue. Firefighting units on scene were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Authorities said it started in an outdoor fireplace which caused the structure s roof to partially collapse. Edmond Fire Department deputy chief Chris Denton told News 9 no one was injured. However, several animals were rescued from the structure.

By: Hunter McKee EDMOND, Okla. - Firefighters responded to a large house fire Saturday afternoon near East 33rd Street and South Bryant Avenue in Edmond.   I turned around and saw black, boiling smoke, neighbor Chris Gee said. I knew it was a house fire and not just somebody burning in the backyard. When he realized what was happening, Gee said he quickly rushed over to help. Opened the door, went right in the front and the back wall where the living room is was just fully engulfed, Gee said. I mean, there were flames going up the back of the wall and up the ceiling.

When crews arrived, they found a heavily involved fire and lots of flames coming from the roof.Denton told KOCO 5 that no one was inside the home when the fire sparked, and neighbors got pets out of the house.No injuries were reported, but the house was heavily damaged. Authorities have not said how the fire started.
