Things To Do: Luba Dvorak Will Host The Brooklyn Twang Festival At The Continental Club

As live music is slowly returning to venues all across the city, it’s been comforting and refreshing to see mostly local bands revving back up and serving as a great reminder of the immense talent this city holds. Luba Dvorak, who moved to Houston just a few years ago from the Big Apple and quickly made himself a major part of our city’s musical landscape, will be celebrating local talent in a big way with his first ever Brooklyn Twang Festival taking place Saturday, May 29 at The Continental Club. Dvorak will be combining his New York roots and Houston musical friendships with the all-day festival featuring like minded bands who embody Dvorak’s Brooklyn Twang vision which he describes as “Honky Tonk just sloppier. It’s got the New York swagger and it s a little rough around the edges.”

Bricks from the demolition of the Hangar will be re-purposed and used in a heritage wall that will be built were the recently-removed Victor gate guardian stood. The aircraft was scrapped after no-one came forward to adopt it.

(Photo: Emirates) Airbus is polling airlines that fly the massive double-decker A380 for interest in converting the out-of-favor plane into a freighter, while keeping the top level for passengers, to take advantage of demand for e-commerce shipping, according to sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The trial balloon is a reflection of how far the super-jumbo’s stock has fallen as a people mover and the industry’s thinking that passenger traffic isn’t going to come back enough after the pandemic to support what once was the manufacturer’s crown jewel.
