Both COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are increasing dramatically across northwest Louisiana.
Only one parish in northwest Louisiana Claiborne Parish had less than a 100% increase in COVID-19 cases over the two-week period ending Sunday. And only one parish in northwest Louisiana Lincoln Parish did not have an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations.
The grim numbers come at a time when some health officials have said the state was going through a fourth surge during the COVID-19 pandemic. Low vaccination rates are also seen as a contributing factor to the rising number of cases and hospitalizations.
DeSoto Parish, which is 27% fully vaccinated, had the largest two-week increase in cases in northwest Louisiana. The parish had a 711% increase in cases. It also had a 38% jump in hospitalizations.
