Thoroughfare closed to traffic for last 2 days as Indrayani overflows amid rains.
The Moi-Chikhali bridge connecting Moi, Kuruli and Chakan MIDC (
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) with Pimpri-Chinchwad is submerged and closed to vehicular traffic since two days, after water in river Indrayani at Maval taluka increased due to incessant rains. The river has also flooded the southern part of Khed taluka.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (
PCMC) chief fire officer Kiran Gawade told Mirror, “The bridge is submerged with the river Indrayani swelling with water. Thus, it has been closed since Thursday this week. The hyacinth is hindering the flow and the water is not receding from the bridge. We will open it to traffic only if the rains cease.”
