Iowans dismiss partisan politics, back Vilsack as next USDA leader

DES MOINES, Iowa Seeming to take the partisan out of politics, Iowa s agriculture community rallied behind President-elect Joe Biden s pick to lead the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Former Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has a long history with the USDA, serving under President Barack Obama during both of his terms as president.
Vilsack was Obama s longest-serving cabinet member.
If confirmed by the Senate again, many ag groups want the former Iowa governor to tackle international trade issues.
“We had everything from Santas playing tennis, to a running nativity scene; people really got creative and have raised an incredible amount of money at the same time.”
Santas on the Run goes Freestyle was supported by community partner Whirlwind Sports. The money raised will help CHSW to continue providing vital care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families throughout the Christmas period and beyond.

The charity has adapted its care model during the pandemic to provide hospice, home and virtual care, acknowledging the need to stay in touch with families and support them in new ways through these uncertain times.

GREECE, N.Y. (WHEC) Crews put out a house fire in Greece Monday night.
Firefighters say the fire at 161 W Craig Hill Dr. in Greece started with an electrical fire in the basement, but was extinguished.
No injuries were reported and all of the residents were able to return to the house.

Kinston’s Mother Earth Brewing receives statewide recognition

Mother Earth Brewing was one of several businesses to receive statewide recognition for their outstanding leadership in advancing clean energy opportunities in North Carolina during the 6th annual “North Carolina Clean Energy Champion” awards event.
The Dec. 1 event, co-hosted by Conservatives for Clean Energy-NC (CCE) and Chambers for Innovation & Clean Energy (CICE) streamed online to over 200 participants.
Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Craig Hill offered his congratulations to Mother Earth Brewing during the online awards event sharing that Mother Earth’s use of clean energy has served as an example to others.
