A hiker came across quite the large snake while hiking at Jeffries Creek Park in Florence recently.
âThis guy was huge!â Meredith Langley exclaimed in a Facebook post shared in the group South Carolina Hiking, complete with photos of the slithery creature.

March 8, 2021 - Sacramento, Calif. - The California State Library and the Legislative Women’s Caucus are pleased to present WOMEN’S MARCH, a new online exhibit showcasing the poster and signage art of the 2017 Women’s March on Google Arts & Culture.
The exhibit by the Sutro Library, the San Francisco branch of the State Library, is part of the State Library’s commemoration of Women’s History Month.
The exhibit features handmade signs carried by marchers in the Bay Area and Sacramento, and is part of the library’s collection of more than 380 posters, photos and ephemera from the march. The Santa Monica Public Library has been selected to participate in an exclusive grant provided by the California State Library in partnership with Bibliotheca, LLC to pilot an innovative way to provide library service in a post-COVID world. The innovation grant will allow for new technology to be installed at the Ocean Park Branch Library to expand access to the library collection to Santa Monicans through a unique self-service model.
The Open+ Pilot Project, is part of the California State Library’s Bringing the Library to You Mobile Library Solutions grant initiative. Senator Thomas J. Umberg (D-Santa Ana) reintroduced the California Student Success Act, Senate Bill (SB) 34, which would create universal access to local libraries for all public K-12 students in California.
Students need reliable access to accurate information to succeed in an academic environment that includes distance learning. SB 34 helps do this by building on successful federal and local programs that have equipped students with local library cards and immediate access to online and physical resources.
“A local library card is a passport to a world of new ideas and perspectives, a journey towards a brighter future. Every student in California should have access to this enriching experience, without costs or fees existing as a barrier to entry,” said Senator Umberg. “Two of California’s greatest public programs our K-12 public school system and our public library system must work together to guide students through this pandemic and our ongoing discourse over ‘
