As parts of the province brace for some moisture, a professor at the University of Saskatchewan says it couldn’t come at a better time.
John Pomeroy, the director of hydrology at the university, described the current conditions felt in the province as extreme.
“Large swaths of Saskatchewan are in an extreme drought right now. In fact, 93 per cent of the agricultural part of the prairie provinces are either abnormally dry or in moderate to extreme drought,” Pomeroy said on Tuesday’s Greg Morgan Morning Show. “We have had less than 40 per cent of our normal precipitation since last fall.

Millions of dollars are about to be spent on renovating the Saskatchewan Science Centre, bringing what its CEO calls a “refreshing look to the facility.”
Sandy Baumgartner said between the provincial and federal governments, the centre will receive more than $2 million in funding.
“The science centre, as many in Regina may know, is 32 years old and there’s a lot of infrastructure that needs replacing. (It’s) old and dated,” she said during Wednesday’s Greg Morgan Morning Show.
Renovation work can start right away on things like new flooring and bathrooms. Other areas that will get a remodel include the front entrance and ticket kiosk, along with the IMAX Theatre concession and box office areas.

To identify participants of a rally who recently marched into the Cornwall Centre unmasked in defiance of public health measures, Regina police posted footage and closeups of faces online.
So far, the tips have been good, says Regina Police Service Chief Evan Bray.
In one case, a woman told police it was her son-in-law who participated in the breaking of public health orders that limit the size of gatherings.
” ‘That’s my son-in-law and I don’t appreciate the fact that he’s down there,’ ” Bray recalls the woman saying.
“That’s really been a great initiative for us as well and at the end of the day, I think it sends a message to people who might want to just wander down and take a look.”
