COVID-19 vaccination clinics are set to begin in Greenwich this week, as the massive campaign to immunize people all over the country continues.
Greenwich residents who are 75 and older are eligible in Phase 1B to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine which will be available – by appointment only – at four locations in Town. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
Beginning Jan. 25, Greenwich Hospital will operate a daily clinic at the Brunswick School King Street campus in addition to its Northeast Medical Group location at 500 W. Putnam Ave.
Last Friday evening, First Selectman Fred Camillo announced that Greenwich Hospital had temporarily suspended taking reservations to ensure there is an adequate vaccine supply for the appointments already made.

To celebrate a very Happy 2021, Lori Contadino, Director of the Greenwich Commission on Aging, and the staff at the Greenwich Senior Center, wanted their members to have some treats to help celebrate the New Year. First Selectman Fred Camillo stopped by to help, and Police Chief Jim Heavey and several Officers, plus the Senior Center staff, handed out over 150 New Year Goody Bags full of Asti Spumanti, snacks and chocolates, as well as warm blankets. The Drive-Thru was contactless and members were happy to see everyone in person, shouting “Happy New Year!”
The Greenwich Senior Center, located at 299 Greenwich Avenue, has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic in March. People lined up in their cars to pick up their goodies at the front door in the Senior Center Circle, as police and staff placed the bags and blankets in their cars. Safe distancing was practiced and masks were mandatory for everyone.

Voices Center for Resilience to honor Greenwich man
The New Canaan-based Voices Center for Resilience, known as VOICES, will host its annual “Always Remember” Gala as a virtual event this year due to the pandemic. The fundraiser for the nearly 20-year-old nonprofit will be held online at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17.
Hosted by longstanding ESPN personalities Mike Greenberg and Jeremy Schaap, the inspirational evening will feature guest speakers, an awards program, and a musical performance by Daniel Rodriguez, “America’s Beloved Tenor” and winner of the USO Lifetime Achievement Award.
