A Jefferson woman was taken into custody Thursday on allegations of sexual misconduct with minors following an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department. According to law enforcement, the inquiry was initiated in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS). Authorities say video evidence provided to DHS showed the woman, identified as 21-year-old Victoria Leigh Ann Gordon, engaged in sexual situations, some involving children. Gordon was arrested at approximately 2:24 p.m. in the 400 block of E. Washington Street and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. She has been charged with lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony, and indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor. As of Friday morning, Gordon remained in custody awaiting an appearance before a magistrate.
The Jefferson Police Department has opened an investigation into a vehicle theft reported Friday. At approximately 7:34 a.m., the victim contacted law enforcement and told them their 2011 Kia Sedona had been taken sometime between Thursday evening and Friday morning in the 500 block of West Madison Street. Officers were able to use the van’s GPS tracking system to pinpoint the vehicle in Des Moines, where it was then recovered by the Des Moines Police Department on Saturday, April 17. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone who may have information regarding the theft is asked to contact the Greene County Law Enforcement Center at 515-386-2136.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a bank robbery reported Thursday morning at People’s Bank in Scranton. According to law enforcement, the robbery occurred at approximately 10:37 a.m. in the 1000 block of Main Street.
