Jay Edwards, R-Nelsonville, voted to jeopardize the lives of firefighters, paramedics, and the citizens we serve in cities of all sizes across the state of Ohio.  True to form for one of the most corrupt legislative bodies in American history, the Ohio House of Representatives voted to shut down the very municipalities they are now trying to retroactively defund. Ohio firefighters, EMTs and paramedics cannot fight fires, reverse overdoses, or care for gunshot victims on a zoom call. Put simply, when it comes to saving lives, remote work is not an option.

Anthony Gonzalez on Friday became the latest pro-impeachment House Republican to be raked over the coals by his state’s party. But as Jeremy Pelzer reports, the Ohio Republican Party not only voted to censure Gonzalez, but also passed an impromptu resolution calling for his resignation. Gonzalez didn’t respond Friday, though U.S. Sen. Rob Portman issued a statement supporting the Rocky River Republican. Drug problem still rages: Ohio officials are sending 60,000 doses of naloxone nasal spray, which stops opioid overdoses, across the state, Laura Hancock reports. Last year at this time, overdose deaths increased in the spring and summer.
