“There are few reasons to walk along this corridor unless you’re going from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’,” Leighton Ginther of third-party consultant Urban Systems said at the June 21 town meeting.
“It’s not a place that you go necessarily for the experience, there’s not as much interaction with adjacent development and that sort of compromises its vibrancy.”

The north-south thoroughfare running from (more or less) the tracks to the river passes through a primarily industrial (but also retail) area, by the sawmill and old gravel site, and past homes and parks before meeting its functional terminus at the old wood bridge.

However as that gravel site is slowly redeveloped into the new Greystone area, the drive will start to look different.
“We’ve got these industrial businesses happening right now, but I would expect we’re going to see some redevelopment happening there as Greystone comes on board, those sites are going to be more valuable,” noted councillor Tara McFadden at a June 21 meeting with town staff.

It’s part of what’s called the Griffin Ranch, and a local firm is converting the area into a semi-public space.

The formerly town-owned property went up for sale during the construction of that east section of Griffin Road in 2017. A background report from administration noted they were “particularly pleased” when new owners, local property managers Norberg Developments, indicated a “vision for the future of the property that aligned with the town’s objective to diversify the non-residential tax base and help support local business” as well as a desire to restore the barn, originally built in 1907.
